PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Glucose – one of the most easily digestible sugars. It is well absorbed in blood, and the excess of it is in the liver and muscle, where is converted into glycogen. In the body, it breaks down with formation of energy that provides heat, the work of muscles and other tissues. Glucose stimulates the synthesis of hormones and enzymes in animals organism, increases the body’s defenses. In case of application of isotonic solution organism is replenished with fluid and easily digestible, valuable, nutritious material.
INDICATIONS
Тoxicoinfections, infectious diseases, various intoxications (drug poisoning, cyanide and its salts, carbon monoxide, aniline, hydrogen arsenic and other substances), liver diseases (hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver dystrophy and atrophy), cardiac decompensation, pulmonary edema , hemorrhagic diathesis and many other pathological conditions.To ruminants is appointed in case of gastrointestinal diseases with symptoms of intoxication, hypotension, atony of proventriculus, as well as acetonemia, postpartum hemoglobinuria, ketonuria and toxemia. The product is a component of various blood substitute, antishock and rehydration fluids, solvent for drugs in case of intravenous injection in order to reduce their toxic effects. Glucose solution is appointed to weak and emaciated animals as energy and dietary drug.
DOSAGE. Isotonic (5%) glucose solution apply intravenously and subcutaneously at the following doses (ml per animal): cattle – 600-3000; horses – 600-2400; sheep and goats – 100-600; pigs – 200-600; dogs – 50-500; cats – 25-250. The volume of dose and terms of application depend on the weight of the animal and disease.
