DESCRIPTION. Clear oily liquid from light yellow to yellow color with a specific smell.

PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS. АТС vet QP53, ectoparasitic drugs for local application (QP53AX15, fipronil)

The active substance of the drug – fipro­nil (Fipronilum) – 5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenyl]-4[(trifluoromethyl) sulfinyl]-1Н-pyrazole-3-carbonitrile derivative of phenylpyrazole.

Fipronil affects the central nervous system of ec­toparasites without affecting the central nervous system of animals. The mechanism of action of fipronil in invertebrates is that the drug inhibits the passage of chloride ions in the GABA-dependent chloride channels, disrupting the nervous sys­tem. After system blocking of nervous system with fipronil, occurs nervous overexcitement and death of ectoparasites.

After applying the product on the skin fipronil is not absorbed through the skin and cumulate in the epidermis, sebaceous glands, hair follicles and gradually released, showing insecto-acari­cidal action. Fipronil provides long prolonged ef­fect. After local application of the drug is distribut­ed over the surface of the animal within 24 hours.

APPLICATION. Externally for dogs and cats for the prevention and treatment of diseases caused by ectoparasites, fleas (Ctenocephalus spp.), lice (Linognathus setosus), mallophaga on imaginal and larval stages of development (Trichodectidae spp.), parasitiformes and itch ticks (Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp., Rhipicephalus spp.), and acari­formes (Sarcoptidae, Psoroptidae).

The drug is effective against ear itch of carni­vores – otoacariasis (Otodectes cynotis).

DOSAGE. Externally. Before processing of ani­mal a bottle with the drug should be thoroughly shaken, direct stream of the drug on the body of the animal from a distance of 10-15 cm. The drug  is applied to the entire surface of the pre-tousled hair at the rate of 2-5 ml per 1 kg body weight by pressing the plunger spray – 5 clicks (0.5 ml). When spraying keep a bottle with the drug up­right. The drug is applied against the hair; long-haired animals should be combed with a brush, apply the drug so that it gets on the skin.

In case of itch, lice, mallophaga processing of animals is carried out 2-3 times at intervals of 10-12 days. Treatment of animals is carried during seasonal activity of parasites if necessary.

In order to prevent ectoparasites lesions of ani­mals, you need to change the bedding or pro­cess it and care items at the rate of 2 ml spray per 1 m2.

When treating otoacariasis (ear mange) ear conch and ear canal previously cleaned of ear wax, fluid and scabs, then spray in each ear 0.5 ml. For even distribution of the drug ear conch is closed and gently massaged, fixing animal’s head for 5-10 minutes to prevent splashing of the drug. The drug is administered in both ears, de­spite only one has lesions.

Ixode ticks are killed on animals’ body by ap­plying 0.5 ml directly on the tick and place of its attachment to the skin. If within 30 minutes tick alone does not disappear – it is gently removed with tweezers and destroyed.

CONTRAINDICATIONS. Do not use the drug for sick and exhausted animals, animals during pregnancy and lactation, puppies and kittens up to 10 weeks of age, the dogs weighing up to 1 kg and animals sensitive to the components of the drug.

PRECAUTIONS. Processing with the drug is carried out in the open air or in a well-ventilated area, keeping animals until hair is dry.During pro­cessing animals with the drug it is forbidden to smoke, drink, eat. Do not allow getting of the drug to mucous membranes and inside. In case of ac­cidental getting of the drug on the skin or mucous membranes immediately rinse it with running wa­ter, with the drug inside – seek immediate medi­cal attention. After processing wash your hands thoroughly warm water and soap, wipe and rub them with regenerative cream. It is not allowed for 48 hours after treatment to bathe and stroke the animals. Avoid lick off the drug from the skin after treatment.

In case of overdose atropine sulfate is used in therapeutic doses and symptomatic treatment.

STORAGE. Dry, dark place at the temperature from 2°C to 30°C. Do not store together with food, drinks and animal feeds. Keep away from children.
