PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS. The combination of two active drug substances – pyrantel pamoate and oxyclozanide – provides a wide range of anthelmintic activity against major pathogens of distomiasis and nematodosis, parasites in cattle, sheep and goats.
Oxyclozanide – synthetic compound from the group of salicylanilide, specific action of it causes the disruption of the oxidative phosphorylation process in trematodes altering metabolic processrs of the parasites causing their death. Oxyclozanide is highly effective anthelmintic, active against larvae over two-month old and mature trematodes (Fasciola hepatica, Dicrocoelium lanceatum, Paramphistomum ichikawai, Liorchis scotiae).
Pyrantel pamoate – synthetic compound from the group of pyrimidine, which causes a specific depolarized neuromuscular blockade on nematodes, and due to paralysis of the muscles of worms, they are derived from the gut peristalsis. Pyrantel pamoate is most effective on larvae and mature forms of nematodes, that parasitize in the digestive tract (Neoascaris vitulorum, Bunostomum trigonocephalum, Trichostrongylus columbriformis, T. axei, Trichuris skrjabini, T. ovis, Chabertia ovina and others).
APPLICATION. The drug is used for cattle, sheep and goats for control of gastrointestinal worms caused by species of trematodes and nematodes sensitive to components of this drug.
Therapeutic and prophylactic treatment of animals is carried out after setting them on the stall maintenance and in spring, before the pasture to pasture, and treatment – if there are indications. For duary cattle the preparation should be used after the morning milking. Because the active ingredients of the drug excreted in milk in very small amounts (less than 0.1%), this drug may be used for worm control of lactating cows.
DOSAGE. Cattle – 1 ml per 10 kg of body weight once with water. In case of intensive invasion with paramphistomatosis it is recommended to increase the individual dose by 25%. Dose for sheep and goats – 1.5 ml per 10 kg of body weight.
