PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS. ATCvet QD08 – antiseptics and disinfectants
QD08AS – chlorhexidine
Chlorhexidine bigluconate – antiseptic, which belongs
to the biguanide derivatives. Its mechanism of bactericidal action involves a violation of ribosomal RNA and
the ability to change the properties of the cell membrane
of microorganisms. Chlorhexidine bigluconate effective against the methicillin-susceptible staphylococci
(MSSA), and methicillin-resistant (MRSA) Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus valivarius.The drug has a high activity against grampositive cocci: Streptococcus viridans (Aerococcus
viridans), Streptococcus haemolitycus, Streptococcus
pneumoniae, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus
agalactiae, Streptococcus serotypes and ribotypes, Enterococcus species.Among gram-negative bacteria the
most sensitive to chlorhexidine bigluconate are: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Gardnerella vaginalis and Acinetobacter.
APPLICATION.Externally to cattle, horses, pigs, sheep,
goats, rabbits, poultry, dogs, cats for the treatment of infectious diseases, complications after surgery, skin lesions, sores, cracks, infected burns, bacterial and fungal
skin diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to
chlorhexidine bigluconate.
DOSAGE.Externally. 5-10 ml of solution put on affected
surface of the skin or mucous membranes of urinary
tract for 1-3 minutes. 2-3 times a day (on swab or by
irrigation).
CONTRAINDICATIONS.Do not apply with dermatitis,
as well as increased individual sensitivity to the drug. Do
not apply simultaneously with other antiseptic solutions.
PRECAUTIONS.In the case of contact of the drug with
the mucous membrane of the eye should quickly and
thoroughly rinse it with water.
STORAGE.Dry, dark place at temperature from 1°C to
25°C. Store in place inaccessible for children.
Expiration date – 3 yearsfrom date of manufacture.
Expiration date after first opening – 7 days.
