Composition

1 bottle contains the active ingredient: ceftriaxone sodium salt – 1.0 g.

 

Pharmacological properties

Ceftriaxone – Antibiotics beta-lactams, cephalosporins III generation that has bactericidal effect. The mechanism of action of the drug is associated with inhibition of enzyme activity transpeptidase, breach biosynthesis of peptidoglycan cell wall of microorganisms. The drug has a wide spectrum: active against gram-positive aerobes: Staphylococcus aureus (including strains that form penicillinase), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus viridans; Gram-negative aerobes: Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterobacter cloacae, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella spp. (including K. pneumoniae), Moraxella catarrhalis, Morganella morganii, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, N. meningitidis, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Serratia spp. (including Serratia marcescens), Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa; obligate anaerobes: Bacteroides fragilis, Peptostreptococcus spp., Clostridium spp. (except Clostridium difficile). It has also active against most strains of the following microorganisms: Providenda spp., Bacteroides bivius, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Salmonella spp. (including Salmonella typhi), Shigella spp., Streptococcus agaladiae, Providenda rettgeri, Citrobacter freundii. The drug is prescribed for resistance of microorganisms to other drugs cephalosporin series, aminoglycosides, penicillins, and others. After intramuscular administration of the drug is absorbed quickly and completely. The bioavailability of a substance is about 100%.

 

 

Usege

Treatment of dogs and cats respiratory diseases, urinary tract, skin, soft tissues and bones, otitis media, sepsis, meningitis caused by pathogens susceptible to ceftriaxone; Prevention of postoperative complications.

 

Dosage

The drug is administered intramuscularly or intravenously once daily.

For intramuscular dogs entering the contents of one vial (1.0 g drug) dissolved in 3.6 ml of 1% lidocaine solution or 0.25% -0.5% novocaine solution or sterile water for injection. 1 ml of the solution prepared in this way contains about 250 mg of ceftriaxone.

For intramuscular contents of one vial cats dissolved in 3.6 ml of 0.25% -0.5% novocaine solution or sterile water for injection. When using cats should not dissolve the drug lidocaine. 1 ml of the solution prepared in this way contains about 250 mg of ceftriaxone.

For intravenous contents of the vial were dissolved in 9.6 ml of sterile water for injection or 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose solution. 1 ml of the solution prepared in this way contains about 100 mg of ceftriaxone.

For intravenous drip bottle contents were dissolved in 100-250 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose solution. Prepared infusion solution is carried out for 20-30 minutes at a speed of 60-80 drops per minute.

The daily dose is 20-40 mg of ceftriaxone per 1 kg of body weight. If necessary, the multiplicity of application can be increased to 2 times daily dosing of ceftriaxone 10-20 mg per 1 kg of body weight. The course of the drug is 5-10 days depending on the severity and course of the disease.

 

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the cephalosporin group of drugs and other beta-lactam antibiotics; renal or hepatic insufficiency; during pregnancy.

 

Warning

In the treatment of dogs with the use of large doses of ceftriaxone in the gallbladder stones may form. With increased sensitivity to lidocaine is not recommended to use it as a 1% solution of solvent.
