Pharmacological properties

Тiamulin — the semi-synthetic derivative of the antibiotic of pleuromutilin, has a bacteriostatic effect, which is due to the binding of thiamulin to the molecular level with the ribosomes of the bacteria, which results in suppressed protein synthesis in their cells. The drug is active against mycoplasmas (Mycoplasma synoviae, M. gallisepticum, M.meleagridis, M. hyopneumoniae, M.hyosynoviae) and spirochetes (Serpulina hyodysenteriae), a number of serotypes Leptospira spp.,as well as the most widespread bacterial infections of the respiratory organs and digestion caused Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium perfringens, Listeria monocytogenes, Erysipelothrix spp., Actinomyces pyogenes, Baсteroides spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella spp., Campylobacter coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae.

After intramuscular injection, tiamulin is absorbed into the bloodstream and penetrates most organs and tissues of the animal, reaching maximum concentration in 1,5-2 hours, excreted from the body mainly with bile and partly with urine.
