DESCRIPTION. Clear oily liquid from light yellow to yellow color with a specific smell.
PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS. АТС vet classification code: QP53AX – other ectoparasitic drugs for local application; QP53AX15 – фіпроніл.
The active substance of the drug – fipronil (Fipronilum)-5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)fenil]-4[(trifluoromethyl) sulfinyl]-1Н- pyrazole -3- carbonitrile, derivative of fenilpirazole.
Fipronil acts on the central nervous system of ectoparasites without affecting the central nervous system of animals. The mechanism of action of fipronil in invertebrates is that the drug inhibits the passage of chloride ions in the GABA-dependent chloride channels, disrupting the nervous system. After systematic locking of nervous system with fipronil occurs nervous overexcitement and death of ectoparasites.
APPLICATION. Externally for dogs and cats from 10 weeks of age for the prevention and in case of lesions of ecto- and some endoparasites, fleas (Ctenocephalus spp.), lice (Linognathus setosus), mallophaga on imaginal and larval stages of development (Trichodectidae spp.), parasitiforme ixodes (Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp., Rhipicephalus spp.) and acariformes (family Sarcoptidae, Psoroptidae). The drug is effective in case of the ear itch of carnivores – otoacariasis (Otodectes cynotis).
DOSAGE. Externally. The drug is applied to the entire surface of the pre-tousled hair (in the area of the body) at the rate of 3-6 ml per 1 kg of body weight by pressing the plunger spray – 5 presses (0.5 ml) for bottles containing 300 ml; for bottles containing 300, 500 and 1000 ml – press one (0.5 ml).
When spraying keep a bottle with medication upright. The drug is applied against the hair; hair of long-haired animals should be combed with a brush, trying to put the drug so that it gets on skin.
In case of itch, lice, mallofaga processing is carried out 2 – 3 times with an interval of 10 – 12 days. The bedding and care items of animals process at the rate of 2 ml of spray per 1 m2. When treating otoacariasis (ear mange) ear conch and ear canal are previously purified from ear wax, fluid and scabs, then spray in each ear 0.5 ml. For even distribution of the drug ear conch is closed and gently massaged, fixing animal’s head for 5-10 minutes to prevent splashing of the drug. The drug is administered in both ears, despite only one has lesion.
CONTRAINDICATIONS. Do not use for sick, exhausted animals; during pregnancy and lactation; puppies and kittens under the age of 10 weeks of age, the dogs weighing up to 1 kg, and animals with hypersensitivity to components of the drug.
