fipronil 10;

Additional substances: – 100 ml.

            Pharmacological characteristics

АТС vet classification code: QP53A – ectoparasitic drugs for local application; QP53AX15 – fipronil.

The active substance of the drug – fipronil (Fipronilum)-5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4- (trifluoromethyl)fenil]-4[(trifluoromethyl) sulfinyl]-1Н- pyrazole -3- carbonitrile, derivative of fenilpirazole.

Fipronil acts on the central nervous system of ectoparasites without affecting the central nervous system of animals. The mechanism of action of fipronil in invertebrates is that the drug inhibits the passage of chloride ions in the GABA-dependent chloride channels, disrupting the nervous system. After systematic locking of nervous system with fipronil occurs nervous overexcitement and death of ectoparasites.

After applying the product on the skin fipronil is not absorbed through the skin, and cumulates in the epidermis, sebaceous glands, hair follicles and gradually releases detecting insecticide-acaricide action. Fipronil provides long-term sustained action. After local application the drug is distributed over the body surface of the animal within 24 hours.

Application

Prevention and treatment of cats in case of lesions of ectoparasites: fleas (Ctenocephalus spp.), lice (Linognathus setosus), mallofaga on imaginal and larval stages of development (Trichodectidae), parasitiforme and itch ticks (Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp., Rhipicephalus spp., Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis). Prevention and treatment of flea allergic dermatitis of cats.

Dosage

Externally. Before use, cut the tip of the ampoule.

The drug is applied on the intact dry skin using polymer ampoule-drip on the place out of the reach of pets to lick off, deploying wool in the area of the spine between the shoulder blades, in the area of the neck, the skin of the inner surface of the ear at the doses given in the table:

The weight of the animal Dose of the drug per animal Number of ampoules required for processing
Cats
up to 1 kg 10 drops
from 1 to 3 kg 12 – 20 drops
from 3 kg 1,5 ml 1,5

When processing large dogs weighing more than 50 kg the dose is increased for 1 ml for every subsequent 10 kg. In case of lesions of itch ticks, lice, mallofaga processing is carried out 2-3 times at intervals of 10-12 days. Treatment of animals is carried during seasonal activity of parasites if necessary.

In order to prevent injuries of animals by ectoparasites it is necessary to periodically change or process with appropriate insecticides beddings for animals and conduct regular cleaning of their places of residence.

In the treatment of animals from otoacariasis (ear mange) ear conch and ear canal are previously purified from ear wax, fluid and scabs, then into each ear instilled 4-6 drops of the drug. For even distribution of the drug ear conch is closed and gently massaged along its base, fixing head of the animal for a few minutes to prevent splashing of the drug. Remaining in an ampoule drug put on the animal’s spine. Drug is instilled into both ears.

In case of lesions of ixode ticks the drug (1 drop) is applied directly at ectoparasites in the place of their attachment to the skin (1 drop). If within 30 minutes tick alone does not disappear, it gently removed with tweezers and destroy.
