Means for the treatment of the gastrointestinal tract and liver
Hepaguard

(for EXPORT sales)

Composition

1 ml of the drug contains: L-ornithine – 15 mg, L-citruline – 10 mg, L-arginine – 40 mg, as well as auxiliary substances: betaine, sorbitol, lidocaine hydrochloride, methylparaben, propylparaben and water for injection – up to 1 ml.

Clinical pharmacology

The hepatoprotective effect of the drug is caused by to the properties of its constituent components.

L-carnitine, participating in the Krebs urea cycle (the formation of urea from ammonia), reduces the level of ammonia in the body, increased in liver diseases, promotes the synthesis of insulin and growth hormone, activates protein metabolism.

L-citrulline is an amino acid that participates in the urea cycle and promotes the formation and elimination of urea from the body.

L-arginine (amino-guanidyl-valeric acid) stimulates cellular metabolism, promotes the neutralization and elimination of ammonia, regulates blood sugar levels and reduces lactic acidosis caused by muscle load, activates the system of nitrogen-containing enzymes that synthesize the nitroso group (NO), providing the necessary tonicity of the arteries.

Betaine (trimethylglycine) has a choleretic and lipotropic effect, activates metabolic methylation in the liver and the synthesis of phospholipids of cell membranes. Functioning as an alternative donor of methyl groups in the conversion of methionine from homocysteine, it can replace defects in methylation reactions caused by impaired functioning of the folate cycle and a lack of vitamin B12.

Sorbitol has a detoxification and choleretic effect, provides replenishment of the volume of circulating blood.

The drug is rapidly absorbed from the injection site, passes blood-tissue interface and is distributed to all organs and tissues. Partially utilized in metabolic processes, the rest is excreted by the kidneys.

According to the degree of impact on the body, it belongs to low-hazard substances, in therapeutic doses it does not have an embryotoxic, teratogenic, carcinogenic and sensitizing effect.

Application

Independently or as part of complex therapy for acute and chronic liver diseases of various etiologies to normalize the function and regeneration of liver cells after endo- and exotoxicosis, somatic and infectious diseases, as well as to reduce the hepatotoxic effect of drugs.

Dosage

The drug is used only by veterinarian prescription. The dose is calculated depending on the weight of the animal and its age. The product is administered IM (deeply), IV (very slowly) or SC. The last method is used more often for small dogs, puppies and kittens, since it is somewhat difficult to give them intramuscular injections. Depending on the severity of the pathological process and the general condition of the animal, the drug is administered 1 or 2 times every 24 hours in a course of 5-7 days. In severe cases, it is allowed to extend the course of treatment up to 2 weeks.
The product is compatible with any drugs and animal feed additives. As to the pregnant and lactating animals, the drug is prescribed only when all risks to the offspring are assessed, if it is valuable.

Standard doses for administration:

Adult dogs – depending on the breed – 2-5 ml.

Puppies of small breeds – only according to the assessment of a veterinarian (starting dose from 0.3 ml).

Medium-sized puppies – only according to the assessment of a veterinarian (dosage – 0.5 ml).

Puppies of large breeds – 1 ml

Adult cats – depending on weight from 2 – 5 ml/animal.

Kittens – from 0.3 ml. The exact dose is calculated for each specific kitten by the veterinarian.

Horses – 50 – 100 ml/animal, depending on the disease and weight.

Foals – from 1 ml per 5-10 kg  bwg, depending on the severity of the pathology.

Cows – 50 – 100 ml per animal.

Calves – 1 ml per 5-10 kg bwg, depending on the severity of the pathology

Pigs – 10-15 ml, depending on the weight of the animal.

Piglets – 3-5 ml per individual, depending on the severity of the pathology and weight.

Sheep – 10-15 ml according to the weight.

Lambs – from 3 to 5 ml individually, depending on the weight.

Violation of the dosage prescribed by the veterinarian and missed administration of the drug make the therapy significantly less effective.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug (including a personal history).

Side effects

Not detected. In the case of increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug and allergic reactions, it is recommended to stop product application. Antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.
