DESCRIPTION. Dense, oily unadhesive liquid of black color with a specific smell.

PHARMACOLOGICAL  CHARACTERISTICS. Acts antimicrobial,  antiparasitic,  locally  irritative,  in  low  concentrations (3-5%) – keratoplastic. In low concentrations dries  and  accelerates  wound  healing,  and  in  large  – worsens the course of wound healing. After application moderately activates gastric motility and secretion, has antiseptic action, and in large doses causes gastroenteritis and like phenol poisoning.

APPLICATION. Assign inside as an antiseptic and antifermenting agent in case of the rumen atony and tympany, chronic catarrh of the stomach. As an expectorant and antiseptic drug in case of respiratory diseases in the form of inhalation of tar vapors.

Externally tar use in case of chronic skin diseases, including wounds of the extremities, ulcers, weeping dermatitis, felons, for the treatment of scabies and ringworm.

As keratoplastic drug tar ointment (5%) appoint to promote  healing  of  cracks  in  the  hooves  of  horses  and horny  shoe  of  large  and  small  ruminants.  Pure  tar  is used to disinfect leather armor.

Also  use  in  the  form  of  ointments,  pastes,  liniments, emulsions.

CONTRAINDICATIONS. Hypersensitivity.

PRECAUTIONS. The long-term application may cause

skin irritation and allergic reactions.

STORAGE. Dry, dark place at temperature from 0°C to 25°C.
